EQUUS revolves around the investigation of Alan’s upbringing, a 17-year-old boy, who in a night of ferocious passion ends up stabbing and blinding the eyes of 6 horses. The boy is being treated by a child psychiatrist, Martin Dysart, who is made to face his own demons during the process. He questions the concept of "Normalcy"" and the need of "Worship". With successive sessions, Dysart begins to envy Alan, whose life is entirely controlled by his passion, wherein it is learnt that Alan had religious, emotional and sexual attraction for horses.
