Land of Cards
The play LAND OF CARDS is an English language adaptation of T?ser Desh by Rabindranath Tagore. Bangalore Little Theatre's adaptation has used the translation by William Radice, a renowned poet, writer and translator as the base.
A Princess, discontent with her luxury and lack of a definite purpose, pines to explore the world and create an identity of her own. She and her friend set out for an adventure and unexpectedly end up ship wrecked in a strange fantasy kingdom where people dressed up as cards live by rules, rigid inflexible customs, and tiresome traditions. However, the kingdom suddenly becomes unsettled upon the arrival of the Princess and starts to slip into chaos with everyone giving in to their desires and breaking free from chains of unfair traditions.
The play evocative of fantasy is a call to freedom and a full realisation of what it means to be alive to our feelings, thoughts, and human desires.
With a story that’s timeless and relevant it is brought to stage with originally composed live music and dance by a very entertaining ensemble making it suitable for a wide range of audience –8 years to 60 and beyond!
