The Seagull
"The Seagull" is a story that explores the romantic and artistic struggles of four characters: famous writer Boris Trigorin, young actress Nina, aging actress Irina Arkadina, and her son, playwright Constantine Treplev. Constantine is a struggling author who pushes to bring forth a new form of art, and is determined to get back to his cold-shouldered mother. He casts Nina, a young actress in pursuit of absolute fame, as it happens, he is madly in love with her. She returns his love until she meets Boris Trigorin, famous author and lover of Irina Arkadina, mother of Constantine.
Themes of unrequited love, fame vs Pursuit of art, Artistic struggles are central to the play, and are topics still relevant to this day, about 130 years after it was first written.
