Darinda performed by Mashaal theatre group is a psychological drama that explores the intricate connections between violence, emotional wounds and the process of rehabilitation. At the center of the narrative is a troubled adolescent boy with a history of violent behavior. A young teacher, assigned as a tutor to this boy, works to help him while navigating the challenges of the boy’s upbringing, his actions, and the potential for change. The play explores the conditions for constructing adolescent masculinity and explores the haunting question of whether true rehabilitation is possible. In this process the play examines the tension between personal responsibility and external influences, such as upbringing, trauma, and societal neglect. With sharp dialogue and an intense, thought-provoking storyline, Darinda challenges audiences to consider their own perceptions of crime, punishment, and redemption.
